I don't want this slop!

It's a nice day, I'm walking down the street
I'll go back and buy myself a kebab1.
In my headphones, a song of Buerak's:
"Dances of convenience", can't get enough of it2.

I love post-punk,
computers and Natasha.
Mom, I don't want to eat this porridge3!

I look at pigeons with arrogance.
If only one day I could look at people that way...
The big math test is drawing near
and Natasha doesn't call in the club4 anymore.
I don't like the taste of porridge, frustration neither.
I still have to do my homework.
How can you live when you want to be a cool guy
and your mom forbids to go out after dark?

  • 1. "shawarma"
  • 2. "no way I'll switch it off"
  • 3. can also mean "mush", "slop" as I translated it in the title
  • 4. apparently it's about Ionoteka, a club in St Petersburg.
And for some reason the link doesn't show. It can be found in the comments below.
Thanks!

Oops sorry, fixed. Thanks

What about "в ионку"? I could not even find the word in a dictionary.

Ah ok, thank you very much.

Thank you, Pierre! I like the tempo of this song, it feels so dynamic. But I had no idea about its message.😅

Post-punk is just my kind of music, and I quite like the self-derisive humour of this song.
This thing with the pigeons had me chuckling hard.

Apparently the genre is becoming popular. I keep getting guest thanks for this one.
We have a few such bands in France, but they are somewhat confidential. I rather like Structures or Rendez-Vous
This guy has done a full album that sounds straight out of the 80's, and for once he sings in (strange) French.

Yeah, the post-punk genre seems to be thriving in Russia. I'm hooked on Russian post-punk/new-wave music recently, even if I don't understand a word I can still enjoy them. But thankfully I have you guys here on LT to translate them for me. 😄 (I will check out those bands you mentioned. Thanks for the recommendations.)
