Farewell to the New Year tree

Versions: #1#2
Blue crown, crimson shaft,
Ringing of the green cones.
The wind blow somewhere in the room
Where lovers was congratulate.

It touch somewhere the old strings,
Stretch out their roll call(1)
Here it is, January - has come, has flew,
Madness as a suburban electric train.

We dressed you up to the nines,
We served you faithfully,
To trumpet in cardboard trumpets (2)
Just like hurried to the feat.

So we believe just for a jiffy
Maybe, in innocent heart,
The charmed face of that woman(3)
Was merge with your eternal feast.

In the moment of parting, at the hour of reckoning,
In the day of the fading of the week(4)
Why you became so bad?
Maybe they are just mad?

So, refind like nightingales(5)
Proud as grenadiers,
Why their reliable hands
Are hide your cavaliers?(6)

Why they can't stop the time,
Why they can't stop to try
But the wheels start to knock(7)
How hard it is to part!

But the fuss are started again
The time is judge Ii its own way
So you was take off from the cross(8)
And there is no the resurrection.

Fir, my fir - believe to outgoing (deer)
Maybe you tried in vain:
The cautious shadow of that woman
Get lost in your pine.

Fi, my fir like Savior on Spilled Blood
Your remote shape
Just like the light of the surprised love,
Inflamed, unquenchable.

Thanks!

Author's comments:

(1) Means sound
(2) In Sovet times, where it song from, children has no good toys, so their fathers or themselves made the toys from improvised materials
(3) Means Snow Maiden. Becuz New Year tree, often, was full covered by cotton, for imitation of the snow. So their really looks like Snow Maiden.
(4) In the Russia the most important feast is a New Year. Christmass is in 7 of January, that's why most part of Russian people rest 10 days. Till 1 to 10 of January.
(5) The most popular bird of Russian poets.
(6) Cavalier - in Russia people call like this a young man who has good manners, upbringing, and the parents of the further bride consider him a good future husband for their daughter. Gallant cavalier oftenly.
(7) The phrase "wheels are knock" was born from the most popularity intercity transport in Russia - the train. When train driving, the rails under the wheels start to sag. Because of this, in the splice between two rails form a little gap. So when the wheel drive over this gap it release a character sound. Since the wheels are paired and the whole railway carriage sweep over this gap, people in hears like "knock/knock...knock/knock.........knock/knock...knock/knock (next railway carriage)........."
(8) Stand for New Year Tree. Two wooden blocks nailed crosswise

Tibor, thank you very much. You did a great job!!! The song is really beautiful. I heard that Okudzava wrote this song in honor of Ana Ahmatova after she die, but it's not sure....
Just one question: is it possible that "Бешеный, как электричка" means "silent as electric train"? (that was how I heard that when first time listened). In Croatian we said for electric train - it is "bezšuman" - means "without sound".
Once more - thank you very much

Everything for you, darling, but someone think that's my translation is shit, so...
Well, I never think about it before you ask, but now I see that words "бешенный" and "бесшумный" sounds a little bit same, but. "Бешеный" is synonim for "безумный". Both of these words translate into English as "madness". What about "бесшумный". This word has another root. There's "шум" (noise) as root + prefix "без" (without). So "бесшумный translate as "without sound" )
But if you trying pronounced them, you'll see the difference: бесшумный [besshumnyi], бешенный [beshennyi]. )

See if you can count mistakes just in:
The wind blow somewhere in the room
Where lovers was congratulate.

And this is plain incorrect in meaning as well as grammar:
Here it is, January - has come, has flew,
Madness as a suburban electric train.
&
To trumpet in cardboard trumpets (2)
Just like hurried to the feat.

Let me know if you are interested in improvements.

There are too many grammatical errors to deserve 5-star rating. Let me know if you wish to work on fixing them - I'd love to help.
Happy new year!

I removed the title from the lyrics, please, do the same with translation

BlackSea4everBlackSea4ever    Mon, 13/07/2020 - 21:09

Soph, a translation this awful and lack of the desire by the translator to fix it should be addressed by removing 5-star rating

SchnurrbratSchnurrbrat    Mon, 13/07/2020 - 21:17

I've reported both 5-star votes.
Since no changes were done in a seven months' term, I believe it's time to vote.

I don’t know - maybe he works my hours. It is awful though.

Tibor, please review your translation, it's grammatically awful. 2 stars at best.
