1/ Gobelin (or tapestry) {artisan, artistic} - one-sided decorative textile fabric, imitating the image.
A piece of thick textile fabric with pictures or designs formed by weaving colored weft threads or by embroidering on canvas, used as a wall hanging or furniture covering.
The name tapestry appeared in the second half of the 17-th century (earlier: it was "Arras").
It comes from a workshop founded by french king Louis XIV near Paris, in areas bought from a family of dyers named Gobelin.
