Dê aştî were welatê min
Dê li herderê kulîlk şin be

Mem û Zîn is a poem by Ahmed-i Hani written in 1692 in the Kurmanji dialect of Kurdish. It tells the tragic story of two young people who fall in love with each other but cannot meet.

Spring will come to my homeland
The flowers will bloom in the mountains
Together we will smell
Those fragrant flowers
We will go to the plateaus
With smiling children
I will read poems for them
They will sing for me
Young boys and girls will come
They will fall in love with each other
Like Mem and Zîn
Meeting is a possibility
Peace will come to my homeland
It will bloom everywhere
It will smell good everywhere
Everyone will fall in love
