(Kuma) (English translation)

Kuma

The afternoon snow sparsely covers the earth
Its faint scent starts to linger
From that corner
A dog that died a long time ago
Approached wagging its tail

So adorable
I can't lie to you
My heart is laid bare

Everything I hold in my arms falls apart
In this dead end1 before my eyes
From the tail, little by little you vanish2
Why did you
Appear to me?

  • 1. Could also possibly mean that the narrator stopped in their tracks.
  • 2. Lit: Melt, like the snow melting, but I think 'disappear'/'vanish' fits better, esp. in the poetic sense; the image of 'dissolving/disappearing into the air/background'.

Thank you!

"溶けて" in this case might be better fit to snow, don't you think? Especially since she does mention "雪" in the first sentence.

Thanks for your kind comment! Regular smile I've been debating whether to change it, I'll see what I'll do, lol.
