La mar brama

La mar brama!
La mar brama!
Jo tinc el so al meu pit...

La mar brama!
La mar brama!
M'hauré de "despedir"...

Si quan tornis,
Veus que ja no hi sóc,
Desplega veles:
No tornis de jorn!

La vida és dura com una pedra
I salada com la mar;
Trista quimera
Pel qui espera tornar...

La mar brama!
La mar brama!
És hora de partir...

La mar brama!
La mar brama!
Llarg és el camí...

Ja pas tornaré
Si ningú hi ha
Qui, en la solitud,
Em pugui esperar!

La vida és dura com una pedra
I salada com la mar;
Trista quimera
Pel qui espera tornar...

The Sea Is Roaring

The sea is roaring!
The sea is roaring!
I have the sound in my breast...

The sea is roaring!
The sea is roaring!
I'll have to say goodbye...

If, upon returning,
You see that I'm not there,
Unfurl your sails:
Don't come back by day!

Life is as hard as a stone
And as salty as the sea;
Sorrowful pipe-dream
For he who wishes to go back...

The sea is roaring!
The sea is roaring!
It's time to leave...

The sea is roaring!
The sea is roaring!
The road is long...

I shan't return
If there isn't anyone
Who, in this loneliness,
Is awaiting me!

Life is as hard as a stone
And as salty as the sea;
Sorrowful pipe-dream
For he who wishes to go back...

[Instrumental]

Good afternoon, NaturProvence!

It's a contraction of shall + not. It's relatively uncommon in contemporary English, but it was used fairly often up to the 1960s.

Have a lovely evening and thank you for your vote - I'm glad that yu've liked some of the songs I've translated Regular smile
