The prayer of St.Francis

Make me, oh Lord, an instrument of your Peace
Make me, oh Lord, an instrument of your Peace.

Where there is hate may I bring love.
Where offense has injured may I bring forgiveness.

Make me, oh Lord, an instrument of your Peace.
Make me, oh Lord, an instrument of your Peace.

Where disagreement takes over, may I bring reconciliation
Where there is an error, may I bring the truth.

Make me, oh Lord, an instrument of your Peace
Make me, oh Lord, an instrument of your Peace

Where doubt rises, may I bring faith.
Where there is despair, may I bring hope.

Make me, oh Lord, an instrument of your Peace
Make me, oh Lord, an instrument of your Peace.

Where sadness oppresses may I bring happiness.
Where shadows prevail, may I bring the light.

The repeated 'que je mette' at the end of the lines are drawn directly from the original, and are conventionally translated "let me bring" in English (cf https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Prayer_of_Saint_Francis). It seems to me this repetition is retained to satisfying effect in this version, the main innovation of which is to introduce a poetic variation at the start of the lines which usually all have 'là où il y a'. That you've captured well, although it would be more consistent to include 'where offense has injured' or something similar.

I have to confess that it troubled me a lot. But I think you are right. After all is a piece of poetry, not just a prayer and repetition is something essential in poems. "Rounding" certain phrases and choosing other verbs instead of the original ones was not a good choice. Thank you.
