A A

Without wanting to force you

Without wanting to force you1
Come sit down right beside me
In the dark-ness come find me
Right on time2

Without wanting to force you
Say no more, till tomorrow
It is late to find reasons
To argue

You will come back to thank me
Some time later3
You will come back asking for more
You will come back to thank me
Some time later3
You will come back asking for more

Without wanting to force you
Come to me: I will help you
To believe, your memory
To erase4

Without wanting to force you
Let's try for our paths to cross
At some point between start and
Arrival5

You will come back to thank me
Some time later3
You will come back asking for more
You will come back to thank me
Some time later3
You will come back asking for more

Without wanting to force you
Come sit down right beside me
In the dark-ness come find me
Right on time2

Without wanting to force you
In view of both of our healths
In the dark-ness come find me
Right on time2

You will come back to thank me
Some time later3
You will come back asking for more
You will come back to thank me
Some time later3
You will come back asking for more

"Not that i want to force to
but do come and sit...."
I think it sounds better.
Of course your translation is perfectly fine!

Hello Flora,
Thanks for taking the time to check this out and proofread it! I really appreciate it!
The hardest part when it comes to translating Djian's texts is the ambiguity (and wanting to provide a singable translation doesn't make things easier either! :D)
I think I'll stick to the impersonal phrasing I currrently have - I like the way it showcases the impersonal and not-so-pushy phrasing of the original (so, no "I" and no "Not... but")
Thanks again and see you 'round,
- Torp

I wonder if the - unexpected - order of 'entre arrivée et départ' - could not be preserved in English - perhaps using 'finish' instead of 'arrival' would help?
