Cristino

Igual que un árbol de hondas raíces
Sobre el secano crecido,
Un árbol bueno de ramas anchas
Yo te imagino, Cristino.

Igual que un barco velas tendidas
En busca de América
A los últimos vientos de esperanza
Así andabas

Estribillo

Cruzas cantando, Cristino.

Estribillo

En las Cevenas, con los mineros
Vas compartiendo los días,
Los de trabajo y los de guerra
Entre castaños y minas.

Pont de Rastel y Mon Lozera
Vieron pasar a tus guerrillas!
"Cuando combates se terminen,
Puedes quedarte, Cristino."
No se acabó nuestra tarea
Y están verdes los recuerdos,
Les damos las gracias, hermanos,
A nuestra tierra nos marchamos!

Es bien sabido: las golondrinas
Siempre vuelven a su nido.
Es un camino de flores lleno
El del regreso, Cristino.

Cerca de Vielha lo esperaban
Y le quitaron la vida...
Es un camino amargo y malo
El del regreso, Cristino.

Mientras van tiempos día por día
Y se deshacen nuestras vidas
Tu sombra, leve, corre Cristino
Por los polvorientos caminos...

Cristino

Like a tree with deep roots,
Grew up on a dry land
Same as a good tree with large branches
I imagine you, Cristino,*

Like a boat, with stretched sails
In search of Americas
Thus, you were walking
To the last winds of hope

Chorus
The great conflagration burns your land
With blasts of Apocalypse(1)
Intelligence, reduced to ashes :
Pope Pius XII and Milian vanquished it

God is gone on holidays
You’re going on the path
Hard path which deracinates you,
You and yours, Cristino,

Behind the mountain, on the border,
There are gendarmes who are laughing
You, you’re guiding a child by the hand
You, Cristino, you cross, while singing

Chorus

In the Cévennes (2), with mine-workers
Sharing the days
Those of labour and those of war
Among chestnuts trees and mines.

Pont de Rastel (3) and Mount Lozère, 4)
(Both) saw your guerrillas come through
«When the combats will end
You can stay, Cristino»
Our duty isn’t finished
And the memories are full of hope,
We give you thanks, brothers,
We’re leaving for our country.

It's well known : the swallows
Are always coming back to the nest.
It’s a path filled of flowers,
The one of return, Cristino
Near Vielha (4) they were waiting him
And they took away his life…
It’s a bad, bitter path
The one of return, Cristino.

While times go on, day after day
And that our lives are speeding by
Your light shadow, runs, Cristino
By dusty paths ….

Thanks!
