Original lyrics
Marie Marie (Version Italienne)
Vedrai
Che forse verso Pasqua
Quando libero sarò
Scontata avrò la mia pena
E abbracciare ti potrò
Nel nostro splendido giardino
Ogni rosa sboccerà
Se vuoi portarne alla mamma
Che piacer' mi farà
Marie
Marie
Scrivi ancor'
Al tuo amor'
Marie
Marie
All'albergo
San Vito
Io qui lavoro in biblioteca
Non mi negano una man'
Ho qualche amico tra i poeti
Mallarmé, Chateaubriand
Non la vediam' poi tanto brutta
Se ogni giorno va così
Ci danno perfino la frutta
E il pesce al venerdì
Marie
Marie
Écris donc
Plus souvent
Marie
Marie
All'albergo
San Vito
Lo sai
Che forse verso Pasqua
Ci vedremo dolce amor'
Vorrei sentirmi dire
“T'amo”
Per scordare
San Vito

Translation
Marie Marie (Italian Version)
You'll see
That perhaps around Easter
When I'm released
And I've served my sentence
I'll be able to hug you
In our splendid garden
Each rose will bloom
Please take some to my mother
That'll make me so happy
Marie
Marie
Keep writing
To your lover
Marie
Marie
To the accomodation
San Vito
I work in the library here
Everyone lends a hand
I have some friends who are poets
Mallarmé, Chateaubriand
We don't think that it's so bad
If each day went like this
We're even given fruit
And fish on Fridays
Marie
Marie
Go ahead and write
More often
Marie
Marie
To the accomodation
San Vito
You know
That perhaps around Easter
We'll see each other, my darling
I'd like to hear myself say
“I love you”
In order to forget
San Vito

This is the Italian version of the French song “Marie Marie” composed by Gilbert Bécaud and written by Pierre Delanoë. Dalida sang this live on an Italian variety program in her honor called “Serata Di Gala Con Dalida” on October 18, 1959 but never officially recorded it.
