This rap

Tell me why we're here?
This rap, this rap!
Tell me why we're here?
This rap, this rap!

Sopra M'baba's back, for the guys here for the show.
For all the guys below, here to hear a max of flow
Stop fussing with your hair -- this rap,
we're not here to make things pretty
I don't give a damn if you're white or black
I wanna see jumping up and down in the crowd

Tell me why we're here?
This rap, this rap!
Tell me why we're here?
This rap, this rap!

Okay, I know your life, of abusers in control --
Of head games at home, of failures at school
Crown in pieces thanks to life with a broken heart
Your nerves as fragile as the legs of Djibril Cissé

It's not dire, why are we here?
This rap, this rap!
Tell me why we're here?
This rap, this rap!

They said to you, you'd do nothing ever with your life
That no one could see you on a soccer field or Trace TV
That you'd never be a CEO
Tell them to come see Streetskillz HQ

Tell them why we're here?
This rap, this rap!
Tell them why we're here?
This rap, this rap!

Who's here because it's lit, to throw down with this rap -- tell me
Oh oh oh oh oh
You wanna stop here? As we move from Lolita -- tell me
No no no no no
Us, we want tonight for you to throw down this rap like Sopra M'baba

Okay, okay, I know y'all want rhymes that cut like saws
You want me making sounds like an aural Yamakasi
You want my flow to be smooth like a ball on the feet of Messi
You want me to get my balls back after the slicing-up of an MC

Tell me why we're here?
This rap, this rap!
What are you waiting for from me?
This rap, this rap!

OK, you want rhyme faster than the legs of Usain Bolt
You want to be flooded with riches like the blockchain boys
You want to live in luxury without the part where it's found on sale
You want a flow so do-or-die that in the end the room busts open

Tell me why we're here?
This rap, this rap!
What are you waiting for from me?
This rap, this rap!

Oh
On my right, it's oh!
On my left, it's oh! (5x)

It's lit
Guess who's back on the stage -- it's Sopra M'baba
So everyone's raising their arms up high
so they can clear out their heads with Sopra M'baba

There are multiple layers/allusions/double meanings in this song, and I opted to try for the feel of it rather than going a more literal route.

"Darwa" = slang for "messy music" = rap that gets you riled up. I translated it as "This rap" because a two-syllable phrase better conveys the call-and-response nature of the chorus.

"Sopra M'baba" = Soprano's birth name is Said M'Roumbaba. There's a cute scene in Voice France (Season 8) when a contestant addresses him as "Soprano M'baba" and he's like, "OMG, dude just called me by the name I used when I was starting out, I'm dead."

"Calcul pas ton gel fou" = lit. "Don't calculate your crazy gel"

"De prises de tête" = my dictionary defines it as "hassles," and another source defines it as "something that makes you lose your patience." These didn't seem strong enough for what I hear Soprano getting at here.

Cissé = a soccer player whose injuries made headlines throughout his career and beyond.

Trace TV = a French network dedicated to "urban" music.

Streetskillz = record label founded by Soprano.

Yamakasi = a group of parkour practitioners. Parkour involves getting past obstacles, often with athletic/acrobatic moves.
