To eat crow, or to eat humble pie (English) — To admit to, or prove to be wrong after taking a strong position.
To be humble in error. Thus eating humble pie. Eating crow has a real history. Crow eat carrion, the meat is considered foul tasting, and barely consumable. Eating it would be out of necessity and in humility.
