Catalan

El papa de na Pepa

El papa de na Pepa és mariner;
Ja ho sé!
I té una pipa llarga de paper...
Ja ho sé!

I l’altre dia, a popa l’encengué,
Ja ho sé! Ja ho sé!
I es va fer pupa al nas...
Jo no ho sé pas!

El papa de na Pepa,
De la pipa, de la popa,
De la pupa...

El papa de na Pepa és mariner;
Ja ho sé!
I té una pipa llarga de paper...
Ja ho sé!

I l’altre dia, a popa l’encengué,
Ja ho sé! Ja ho sé!
I es va fer pupa al nas...
Jo no ho sé pas!

El papa de na Pepa,
De la pipa, de la popa,
De la pupa...

Josie's Dad

Josie's dad is a sailor;
I already know!
And he has a long tobacco pipe made of paper...
I already know!

The other day, he lit it up on the ship's prow
I already know! I know!
And he wounded his nose...
I don't know!

Josie's dad,
With the pipe, on the prow,
With the wound...

Josie's dad is a sailor;
I already know!
And he has a long tobacco pipe made of paper...
I already know!

The other day, he lit it up on the ship's prow
I already know! I know!
And he wounded his nose...
I don't know!

Josie's dad,
With the pipe, on the prow,
With the wound...

Dear Francesc can you elaborate oh how Pepa turns into Josie? I ignore the semantics.

Good afternoon, Alexis!

Pepa is a Catalan hypocoristic for Josepa - Josephine in English. The most common corresponding hypocoristics are Jo, Josie, Jojo, Effie or Posie. I have simply chosen Josie because it's more frequently used.

I hope that this clarifies your question. Regular smile

Have a good weekend!
