En paz

Artifex vitae, artifex sui

Muy cerca de mi ocaso, yo te bendigo, Vida,
porque nunca me diste ni esperanza fallida,
ni trabajos injustos, ni pena inmerecida;
porque veo al final de mi rudo camino
que yo fui el arquitecto de mi propio destino;
que si extraje la miel o la hiel de las cosas,
fue porque en ellas puse hiel o mieles sabrosas:
cuando planté rosales coseché siempre rosas.

Cierto, a mis lozanías va a seguir el invierno:
¡mas tú no me dijiste que mayo fuese eterno!

Hallé sin duda largas las noches de mis penas;
mas no me prometiste tan sólo noches buenas;
y en cambio tuve algunas santamente serenas...

Amé, fui amado, el sol acarició mi faz.
¡Vida, nada me debes! ¡Vida, estamos en paz!

At Peace

Architect of life, architect of destiny.

Very close to my sundown, I bless you, life
because you never gave me false hope,
nor unjust work, nor undeserved punishment;
because I see at the end of my rough path
that I was the architect of my own destiny;
if I extracted the sweetness or bitterness of things,
It was because I put bitterness and sweetness into them,
when I planted rose bushes, I always reaped roses.

Surely, winter will follow my vim and vigor:
But you never told me that May would last forever!"

I found without a doubt the nights long with my sorrows;
but you didn't promise me just good nights;
and instead I had some blessed and serene [nights]...

I loved, I was loved, the sun caressed my face
Life, you owe me nothing! Life, we are at peace!.

Thank you my friend :) It sounds great. Just a couple of suggestions:
1:2 Sounds better without the "no" before "false hope". You don't need it.

What do you think of: "...Surely, winter will follow my vim and vigor:
But you never told me that May would last forever!" ?

Thanks again :)

I wasn't sure of the 'no', I deleted it and then added it back and I couldn't make up my mind. When you repeat something a lot, it begins to sound foreign, you know?

Ah, I changed the second part to your suggestion, I was a little tied up with what to do with that.

I know what you mean. I confuse myself frequently :) If I practice any other language enough, my own starts feeling foreign.
