guys, can someone explain to me what he is talking about in the first sentence of this song "ten states from nowhere"?

Ten states from nowhere,
I guess I'm on my own.
It's been three days since
I've had something to eat.
And I left my brother and my mother alone.
Gotta find a place where I can sleep.

I've got no vision for the future
'cause I'm runnin' from my past.
They say love is what
makes the world go round.
Well, my world's no longer spinnin'
and this day could be my last.
Tell me, where can love be found?

So many people,
where do they all come from?
I shoulda grabbed my coat
before I left.
And that girl looks like my sister,
can't be 12 years old.
With that makeup on,
she looks like all the rest.

Well, I must be one of many.
What we learn to do is fail
and our home is what we take
from town to town.
I left my heart in San Francisco,
but my soul is up for sale.
Tell me, where can love be found?

There's a place where the rivers flow
and only a broken heart can go.
There's a place for the wounded soul
where those with a faith in Jesus go.

I've got this dream of all I want to be
and I'm findin' out now who I really am.
Hey, Mister Preacher, will you talk to me?
There's nothin' here for me,
but I can't go back.

There's a place where the rivers flow
and only a broken heart can go.
There's a place for the wounded soul
where those with a faith in Jesus go
and that's where love is,
that's where love is found.

Run to the river!

There's a place where the rivers flow
and only a broken heart can go.
There's a place for the wounded soul
where those with a faith in Jesus go.

There's a place where the rivers flow
and only a broken heart can go.
(Oh, run to the river, yeah, yeah).
There's a place for the wounded soul
where those with a faith in Jesus go.
(And watch your world turnin').
(Get your rivers burnin', yeah).

There's a place where the rivers flow
and only a broken heart can go.
(Go to the river, no, yeah, yeah).
There's a place for the wounded soul
where those with a faith in Jesus go.
(One day, we'll make it together, yeah, oh, no)

There's a place where the rivers flow
and only a broken heart can go.
(Only a broken heart can go, whoa).
There's a place for the wounded soul
(wounded soul)
where those with a faith in Jesus go.
(I know, you know, we know, never make it alone).

There's a place where the rivers flow
and only a broken heart can go.
(Oh, so let's give Jesus...)
There's a place for the wounded soul
where those with a faith in Jesus go.

Ten states from nowhere = Far away from home

"Ten states" is the distance between where he was and where he is now (which is nowhere, somewhere he doesn't know or literally in the middle of nowhere).

There is a town in Oklahoma called Nowhere, so it could also mean he is ten states away from Oklahoma. I highly doubt it but it could still be possible

Since 'nowhere' is a general concept, he would say "Nowhere, Oklahoma" if he was referring to a specific town.

He just means he's in the middle of nowhere, very far away from anywhere.

Unless the booklet has "Nowhere" written with a capital 'N', then it wouldn't refer to a location. Can anyone verify this?

I verified it with the official lyric sheet, it's not capitalized.

Then I go with what I said in my first comment (#2).

I believe that it is not the Nowhere town because in one of the verses of the song he said he left San Francisco, and the Nowhere town is in Oklahoma
