Personally, l don't trust them. Nor about movies nor about actors.
They're okay, sometimes the movies or the actors awarded are very good, but I think that they tend to overrate some films (e.g. Titanic).
Most of the time, they do not give awards to films that are actually popular, but rather shower praise on films that barely anybody besides critics watched or films that are "Oscar bait"--films that were basically designed to win Oscars.
They are awards given by men.
Men sometimes do mistakes.
That's what I think
Now you remind me of a term used to describe so-called "quality" songs in movies (usually ballads), which were written in a way that would win them an award. They are the "award-bait" songs.
By which criteria a movie can be nominated for an Oscar award?
Personally, l trust MTV Movie Awards more, lol.
