Hi guys,

I'm puzzled by the first line of this song.
"Stell dich vor meine Mitte"

Apparently most translations give "Put yourself in my place/shoes", yet it doesn't look like a common way of speaking. Given the context, it would certainly make sense, but I'd rather try to understand what he really means.

Some kind of metaphor I guess, but what is the meaning of "Mitte" here? Just the middle? of what? his life? his personality?

Or maybe it's "stell dir vor" ? Not that it would make much sense either. "Figure out my middle" ???

Es heißt sicherlich "Stell dich vor meine Mitte", so langsam komme ich zu der Überzeugung,
dass "Stand in front of my middle" ganz okay ist!

Yes, or alternatively: Put yourself in front of my middle
I have never heard this way of saying something, (and the country boy I am - I have no idea what he is talking about ... )
but this artist seems to be very special in his way to create German lyrics.

Ok thanks guys, I'm off to try a French version.
I'm a bit puzzled by the 2nd English translation getting 150 likes while the 1st seemed to do a much more honest job.
Apparently the truth is not as appealing as a sweetened version of it Regular smile

Reminds me of:
"You Can Call Me Al" Paul Simon

A man walks down the street
He says "Why am I soft in the middle now?"
Why am I soft in the middle?
The rest of my life is so hard

The boy is pining for love, for somebody to come into his life. The meaning of Meine Mitte is like in the sentence "Ich habe meine Mitte gefunden" I've found my real self. So it may loosely be translated as "Appear before me (before my eyes), take any form, be part of my every step etc." Something in this line. Regular smile

You mean like "innere Mitte" for "inner being"? That would make some sense, I guess.

The dictionaries don't give that meaning (something like "mon moi intérieur" in French ?), and even on the Web, it' rather difficult to find it, although it sounds reasonable. In this song, the singer does nothing but repeat all the time :
"Ich bin und bleibe in meiner Mitte
Meine Mitte bleibt"
and in that one :
another one says :
"Komm wir geh'n ein paar Schritte
auf dem Weg zu meiner Mitte."
(I guess it's the same.)
