I realized that I received a badge. But, where was the fanfare, the party, champagne, the ceremony bestowing an honor?
What was it for, why me, who suggested, and who voted for and against it?

Having examined my output in its various forms, I sincerely hope it was not for the number of comments I left... I wow to reduce them in the future.
I also want to thank Michael Zeiger for joining after I got my badge - I have considerable concern he would have stollen my thunder, albeit not in leaving comments category.

I'd like to know if we can have an upside down badge for ridiculousness and a dislike button which would allow me to make my feelings known without a comment (in turn, helping my goal to reduce the number of comments - win-win!)

I thank everyone who has helped me especially as I struggle with all languages I know, think I know, studied, or plainly don't know!

Your Badge is red IT means you have written many comments. Mine is blue that means i have solved many requests I got my Badge last week and I was also suprised that I didn't get an explanation why I was honoured. For next Badge I would like to get that =a simple notification explaining why I got that

And where's mine?

It's not easy to think it, but the reward really is in knowing that we're helping others.

Three years from now someone nice may discover an artist (singer/performer) and become interested in their music. They will search for the transcription and/or translation and find it and be benefited.

Or they may become confused by an idiom and find an explanation that makes its meaning click.

Or they may find a comment but not know if it can be trusted, if it's accurate. When we click the "like" button, potentially it shows others the validity or trustworthiness of the statement, at least in some cases.

As for fanfare, I, having sipped much champagne, at present wearing a garish floor-length velvet ceremonial hooded robe, hereby bestow upon each of you the title 'sir' or 'dame'.

Lol, I was afraid it was for the comments...
Anyhow, it was meant in jest on otherwise dark several days.

Sorry for the soapbox.

I get your humor (Metallica migraine - good one) and tried to reciprocate.

(I hardly ever drink alcohol and would like to think none of my garments are garish.)

If you go to the Contact Us link, you can ask an administrator. Or maybe you already did.

Unsolicited advice: You and Treeoftoday should send a polite suggestion to the administrators about a guide for badge colors to be added to the FAQs.

And what is wrong with the badges? Aren’t they suppose to mean “you are awesome“?

Badges are given by a site administration to translators who have achieved some outstanding results. Nominations may vary, e.g.:

best translator (user owns lots of translations with high visitors ratings)
best voter (user has left lots of adequate visitor ratings for other users’ translations)
best video editor (user has added lots of video clips to own and others’ translations)
etc.
As a rule, a badge for every nomination is given yearly to a narrow circle of translators.

Translator’s badges are shown in an “About translator” block. If you want to hide your badges from this block, use a top page menu: Menu -> User Profile -> “Hide your badges from "About translator" block” option.

Some people just want to know what specific awesomeness is being acknowledged.

If you hover your cursor over the badge it usually shows what it's for. Yours, BlackSea4ever is "Top Commenter 2018".

Some people think that commenting a lot is is a bad thing
And D stopped, or should I say “slowdowned” on her comments after receiving a badge
And why? Really?

I wish, Maria. You know what they say: "горбатого могила исправит." I just slowed down due to SPS, pity not praise. I tried to joke by opening this thread and leaving other jokes, but to tell you the truth, there were some very sad family matters this month, and I struggle with everything: grammar, words in general, emotions, comments... I lashed out at our friend, Phil, and felt it was time to quiet down, but "I'll be baaack."
Merry Christmas!

Okay, okay, I was already hit by an acronym today, don’t tell me that SPS is NOT something pretty
And Phil loves you

Self pity sucks. I attest to it, sitting alone, well with my cat, well with my husband's cat, while the entire family is together.
So my wishes are for everyone to enjoy life to the fullest! Well, as usual, except for Trump. Lock him up.

Exactly! Feed them! Christmas goose? My son, darling heart, started sending pics of kids opening presents. We have a little big-mouthed prima donna - she seems to be stomping on a bag...
