قرقيعان (Gergai'aan) (English translation)

Arabic
A A

Give us the Gergai'aan 2.. Gergaiaan .. Gergai'aan

  • 1. The masculine pronoun in Arabic means both girls and boys when it's used in a general way.
  • 2. Gergaiaan is a word derived from (Garga'ah) means click or snick, the sound of iron pots carrying the sweets hitting each other while serving the sweets (as described in Wikipedia) https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Gargee%27an . Here it means give us the sweets of the night.
Thanks!

“Whatever troubles that soul is reflected, magically, in the poetry. Reading Arabic poetry, therefore, is not an idle exercise. It is a trip inside the Arab soul.”

Short survey would take 2 min. :) https://bit.ly/37sQWw9

Author's comments:

There are few folk songs for this event that children sings. almost each gulf country has a different song. This whole song (except the four lines in the middle) is a folk song sung by Children in Bahrain and Kuwait.

This is the song sung in UAE:
