Gin and Tonic

1. He was jealous of her to the rain,
And he harbored her June curls
With his denim jacket
As he clutched an umbrella to his elbow.

2. The day was waiting for the darkness,
Life began from the middle,
And shops were closing
Their unbridled mouths.

3. Winds stood their ground,
Swaying chains of sacred rites
And vulgar Admiralty1
Was leasing angels for renting.

4. But instead of the stars,
Two good spirits, Gin and Tonic, took care of them
And the world seemed to sink beneath them
Barely touching the ground…

Chorus:

And it seemed to me
And it seemed to me
What white envy is not a sin.
What black envy is not like (a?) smoke!

And I have not written
I have written nothing
I cannot write this night
I got used to being really dumb.

5. He was jealous of her to the gods
And he was hiding under a bridge from the sky
Doves asked for bread
And they were broken like glass.(5)

6. And {плоть несло} (1)
And the spirit again thundered
in a nine-mark storm dance
From the inability to stay (here with her)
To an inability to soothe.

8. And the long night of cigarettes 2
Faded away to a municipal gray color
The sphinxes were scared by his answers
to their every tricky questions.

9.And, apparently, not for fun
Blood ran through his veins against the current
{He was frozen in all his tracks}(4)
And again- the solid ground

Chorus

10. And as the ninth wave receded
And your sugar is dissolved in a haze
He was inspirationally jealous of her
To the poetry, to Dovlatov3, to Ordynka.4 (6)

11.Two young Sphinxes, which were Gin and Tonic
Were running after them instead of rhyme.
And the air was thin and stubborn,
Having absorbed the scattered dawn.

(1) "Плоть несло" - it may refer to sexual arousal, I guess...
How to translate in in English? I'm confused...

Thanks!

1) something is drawing my body/flesh to

2) fading (away) to "municipal" gray (color)
можно выкрутиться в виде "readjustment of (car) wheels"

(4) может заменить "in all my tracks" -> 'in all my (four) wheels"
