Hystadjentene
Og sume jenter dei e so krumme
Dei bere tobakk i sine lomme
Og kor dei då ser ein gutaflokk
Så håpa dei heve tobakk nok
So håpa dei heve tobakk nok

Translation
The girls from Hystad
The girls from Hystad they are many
Some are short and some are tall
To the church they go decently dressed
But they go home like scalded pigs
But they go home like scalded pigs
And the girls from Hystad are beautiful
They go to church with jerseys green
To the church they go decently dressed
But they go home like scalded pigs
But they go home like scalded pigs
And the poor girl was embarrassed
She walked and wailed along the church road
She walked and wailed back and forth
Because she wanted a handsome man
Because she wanted a handsome man
the girls from Hystad they are many
Some are short and some are tall
The one I want, I can't get
It looks like that, so I have to go
It looks like that, so I have to go
And some girls they are so curvy
They carry tobacco in their pockets
And when they see a flock of boys
they hope they have enough tobacco
they hope they have enough tobacco

Author's comments:
"It cannot be an old folksong, as it mentions tobacco" ??
Tobacco came to Norway the first time in the year 1619, so it is possible that is is an old folksong, and probably is because I coudnt find much out more about the song, except that the melody is an old folkmelody.

There might be a few mistakes in here, as I am not to familiar with this dialect, but I think I got most of it right.
I cannot be an old folksong, as it mentions tobacco. Also the pattern of the rhymes suggests that the song is writhen within the last two centuries. The melody could be much older.
