Least said, soonest mended

It is said to mean that it is a good idea to say very little, because you might upset someone or make a situation worse if you say too much. A difficult situation will be resolved more quickly if there is no more discussion of it.

“Say nothing. Least said, soonest mended is what I always say. Especially in court.”
