Kad se babo vrati kući pijan

Kad se babo vrati kući pijan,
on napravi uvijek neki zijan
oooo babo, babo,
oooo ma mojne babo...

Sa terena kad se vrati
i parkira kamion
do birtije noćas svrati
da popije bar imalo
oooo babo, babo,
oooo ma mojne babo..

Kad se babo kući vrati
prvo malo popije,
ko mu proba na put stati
štos u glavu dobije
oooo babo, babo,
oooo ma mojne babo..

Kad se babo pijan vrati
našeg cuku zadavi,
ženu bije i marise,
a Kemi oko izvadi
ooo babo, babo,
ma mojne babo..

Kad se babo kući vrati pijaaaaann...

When my old man comes home drunk

When my old man comes home drunk
He always causes some kind of trouble
Oooh, dad, dad
Oooh, oh, stop it,1 dad...

When he gets back from the field
And parks his truck
He drops by the bar that night
To drink at least a little
Oooh, dad, dad
Oooh, oh, stop it, dad...

When my old man comes back home
First he has a drink
Whoever tries to get in his way
Gets punched in the head
Oooh, dad, dad
Oooh, oh, stop it, dad...

When my old man comes home drunk
He strangles our dog,
Beats and batters his wife,
And takes out Kemi's eye
Oooh, dad, dad
Oooh, oh, stop it, dad...

When my old man comes home drunk...

  • 1. For those interested in Bosnian: you may realise that you don't recognise the word "mojne". It comes from "nemoj", which means "don't". "Mojne" is in Šatrovački, a Yugoslavian jargon. Šatrovački words are usually formed by taking the first syllable of the word and then putting it at the end of the word: ne-moj -> moj-ne.
Thanks!

Author's comments:

This song is (according to the video) about a child named Kemi whose father was an alcoholic. His father let him drink rakija one day but it wasn't distilled well, and Kemi presumably got alcohol poisoning which left him "deaf, dumb, and blind".
