Russia is waging a disgraceful war on Ukraine.     Stand With Ukraine!

(Kindan no telepathy) (English translation)

Tell me why… Tell me why…
Tell me why…
Tell me why… Tell me why…

LOVE…

I Know (I Know) You Know (You Know)

Please…

The Forbidden Telepathy

Versions: #1#2
Tell me why... Tell me why...
💋 💋 Tell me why...
Tell me why... Tell me why...
When we hug at dawn

He suddenly call me
At the poolside bar at night
I don't like it...
To be alone by myself
In front of a blue window...
I lean forward on my elbows
No...
I won't let our hearts slip past each other

Love...
I can see it dripping out between my fingers...
to the gasping sand, through the window of my eyes

Even if I can telepathically sense a goodbye is coming...
Even if I can telepathically sense a sad ending...
But I love you, so...
Please stay a little longer and listen to what I'm gonna say
Even if I can telepathically sense a goodbye is coming...
Even if I can telepathically sense a sad ending...
Just don't remind me of it now
For a moment...
...pretend that nothing will changes

By the way you open the door...
I can read your mood
I know... You know...
We look at each other, waiting for that word...

Please...
Please don't say anything
I know behind your kindness, there're small thorns hidden

I'll take the kiss, even if it's out of sympathy
I'll accept the memories, even if it's out of sympathy
But I won't be able to forget you
So stay for awhile, you and your broad shoulders...
I'll take the kiss, even if it's out of sympathy
I'll accept the memories, even if it's out of sympathy
Be my lover tonight
I know there's always be...
...forbidden telepathic connection between us

Even if I can telepathically sense a goodbye is coming...
Even if I can telepathically sense a sad ending...
But I love you, so...
Please stay a little longer and listen to what I'm gonna say
Even if I can telepathically sense a goodbye is coming...
Even if I can telepathically sense a sad ending...
Just don't remind me of it now
For a moment...
...pretend that nothing will changes

Thanks!

Kudo Shizuka (born: April 14, 1970) was an extremely popular idol, undeniably top 5 most popular female idol in 1980s.

She made her debut in 1984 as member of a small idol trio that failed and disbanded in 1985 after only releasing two songs. One year later in 1986, she participated in an audition to join the infamous Onyanko Club and accepted.

Nowadays, it's very common to see idol groups with a very large number of members, that if all their members perform together the stage will be full and cramped. This type of large scale group can be traced back to their predecessor: Onyanko Club from the 1980s. Back then it has a total of 52 members that only the selected few could perform as main members while the rest only given smaller roles such as backing vocal. Shizuka also needed to slowly climbed her way up, started as backing vocal for main members. In early 1987, she finally given a sub-group consisted of 3 members:

Unfortunately, Onyanko Club disbanded in late 1987

Kudo Shizuka started her solo career, and this song as her debut song successfully reached #1 spot in Oricon chart, and that was only the beginning of her impressive achievement. Between 1987 to 1993, started from her debut song, these were how her songs ranked in Oricon chart: #1, #3, #3, #1, #1, #1, #1, #1, #1, #1, #1, #2, #1, #2, #4, #5, #5, #1, #6, #5. That has far surpassed anything Onyanko Club can offer! In her entire career, she has a total of 11 songs that reached Oricon #1 spot. She also has performed 8 times in Kohaku Uta Gassen (a legendary new year eve tv program that has been aired every new year eve since 1953. Only elite artists of the year can be invited to this show). She is the real deal!

In 2011, a music program made a survey of "Top 50 Idols of All TIme" based on record sales; Kudo Shizuka was ranked #13 with a total of 14,870,000 sales.

These are her live performances of this song:

^there's a familiar face there among the presenters. The one with red hat, Matsumoto Iyo

And this is Kudo Shizuka in July, 2022:

^ she did a song challenge. They'd gave her random words and she needed to sing a song that contains that word. Her vocal hasn't declined at all, in fact it only got better.

As top tier idols, how are Koizumi Kyoko and Kudo Shizuka compared to Seiko and Akina?

A music program made a survey in 2011, they released list of "Top 50 Idols of All Time" based on record sales; these were their ranks: #14.Koizumi Kyoko(14,260,000 sales) and #13.Kudo Shizuka (14,870,000 sales). Looks too far from Seiko at #2 and Akina at #3?

Well, at rank #12 is fellow 1980s super idol: Nakayama Miho (14,970,000 sales, about the same level), #8.Yamaguchi Momoe (most popular idol from 1970s, 16,220,000 sales) and a bunch extremely popular male idols and boybands from 1990s in between them.

So if we only talk about female idols from 1980s, this will put Kyoko and Shizuka (and Nakayama Miho, who has 8 Oricon 1st ranked songs and  7 Kohaku Uta Gassen appeareances) right under #3.Nakamori Akina(25,340,000 sales) and #2.Matsuda Seiko(29,510,000 sales).

Wait....if Seiko is ranked #2, who is the rank #1? It's SMAP(32,310,000 sales), an extremely popular boyband from early 1990s. Fun fact: one of SMAP member is Kudo Shizuka's husband.

As for their songs, Seiko has a total of 25 singles that reached #1 spot in Oricon chart, Akina has 22, while Kyoko and Shizuka each has 11 songs.

Oh yea, Kudo Shizuka is Kimutaku's wife and Onyanko club number 38.

Yes. I like the fact that somehow all these people have some kind of connections. If you watch the live performance videos I posted above, Matsumoto Iyo appeared in two of those videos. It's like watching crossover where characters from different series meet each other. (⌒_⌒;)

Iyo appears because she was a host of Yuuyake Nyan Nyan (Onyanko club's tv show) during the last months of the show (and the group)

RetroPandaRetroPanda    Mon, 08/08/2022 - 19:37

I see. She was quite a popular tv host.

Diazepan MedinaDiazepan Medina    Mon, 08/08/2022 - 20:44

Yes, she's known for hosting All Night Fuji between 1984 and 1987.

RetroPandaRetroPanda    Mon, 08/08/2022 - 22:00
