The Cracovian Gloom

The clouds hang over the city, it’s dark and I’m not able to get up
I pull the comforter even further [on myself], I disappear and I cower internally
The air is sticky and dense, and the moisture settles on the faces
A bird sits on a tree dolefully and lazily smoothes its feathers

The morning changes into the noon, the hours pass inertly
Sometimes a fly buzzes [for a moment] in the spiderweb’s snares
While high, high above, the Sun shines into the eyes of the pilots
And it tirelessly warms the cold, blue spaces

I await the wind that will disperse
The dark, tangled curtains
I’ll stand up at once then
Face to face with the Sun

The streets [are] shrouded by fogs and drown in blind puddles
Weary, I look through the window and think longlingly about the storm
While high, high above, the Sun shines into the eyes of the pilots
And it tirelessly warms the cold, blue spaces

I await the wind that will disperse
The dark, tangled curtains
I’ll stand up at once then
Face to face with the Sun
