La jota de la Dolores

Aragón la más famosa
es de España y sus regiones,
Aragón la más famosa,
porque aquí nació la Virgen
y aquí se canta la jota,
y aquí se canta la jota
y es de España y sus regiones.

Por una moza del barrio,
por una moza del barrio
Patricio está si se muere.
No diré cual es su nombre,
que ella lo diga si quiere,
que ella lo diga si quiere
por una moza del barrio.

Grande como el mismo sol,
grande como el mismo sol
es la jota de esta tierra,
si el amor luce sus iris,
lanza rayos en la guerra,
lanza rayos en la guerra,
grande como el mismo sol.

Por eso cantamos los de Aragón,
cuando enamorados, al dulce sol,
y en la lid sabemos, quiere decir,
que vencer debemos o bien morir.
(se repite dos veces)

The jota of La Dolores

Aragón is the most famous
In all Spain and its regions,
Aragón is the most famous
Because the Virgin was born here
And the jota is sung here,
And the jota is sung here
And it’s from Spain and its regions.

For a girl of the neighbourhood,
For a girl of the neighbourhood
Patricio is if he dies.
I won’s tell what his name is,
Let her tell it if she wants,
Let her tell it if she wants
For a girl of the neighbourhood.

Great like the same land,
Great like the same land
Is the jota of this land,
If the love shines its rainbow,
Throws the beams to the war,
Throws the beams to the war,
Great like the same land.

That’s why we’re singing the Aragonians,
When falling in love, at the sweet sun,
And in the battle we know the meaning,
That we must win or die.

Please pay attention Zaza,
I was asked to make some corrections:
Patricio está si se muere
cuando enamorados, al dulce sol

Thank you.

For a neighborhood girl

'cause she'll tell it if she wants

Great as this very land / as this land itself

it casts thunderbolts to the war

..., under the sweet sun
and in battle we know what it means
to have to win or else die / or die trying

I think that "Let her tell it if she wants", is all right.

I insist on the fact that the virgin wasn't born in Aragon, she appeared there, "porque aquí se hallo la Virgen" (that's the original line), and the aragoneses worship her more than they worship the jota.

There is another jota that says:
La Virgen del Pilar dice
que no quiere ser francesa,
que quiere ser capitana
de la tropa aragonesa.

It refers to the French occupation of Spain in the early eighteen hundreds.

One more comment:
The title should be a direct translation, since it refers to the title of the play, and not to the main character, although her name is Dolores.
"The jota of La Dolores" or, for short, "La Dolores jota". The "la" should be there.

Hello Pirjo,

I am very pleased that you enjoy the song I have inserted.
You watch it ten times in a row without getting tired.
But what if we would like to criticize this song?

Please read:
Aragón is the most famous
In all Spain and its regions,
Because the Virgin was born here
And the jota is sung here.

Do you believe it?
You must be from Aragon to believe it.

Pirjo, you send special thanks to Plácido Domingo who got paid a lot for singing, I assure you.
Besides, he has no time for us or for LT.
It is not difficult for you to press on the button Thanks!
