Meanings of "A man cannot whistle and ..."

Croatian

- Puhati i piti istovremeno nije nimalo lako.

Or the, in our days, more uncommon: "No man can sup and blow together". - To blow and sup at the same time is by no means easy.
You cannot do two contradicting things at the same time. It is, for those of us who have tried, rather impossible to blow and sup/drink at the same time. Another English version of the proverb reads: "A man cannot have his mouth full of flour and also blow the fire".
