The Principal

Sneaky, greedy, money seeking
Always peeping, fucking creeping
Got it on the down low
So you think you always squeaky
What if I had told your mother
Her son was a cruel motherfucker?

It’s not just me, it's everybody who thinks that you're fucking ugly
When you come and hurt us, just so you can get your money
Forced to follow the leader who's being possessed by demons

I tried to make you listen, but you won't, it's your way, right?
Killing kids all day and night, prescription pills and online fights
Shooting at the angels while claiming you're the good guy
All you want is cash and hype
Fuck our dreams and that’s not right
The principal
Oh, where's the principle?
Oh, where's the principle?
Oh, where's the principle?
Oh, where's the principle?

Complicated, overrated
You're fixated and elated
By the separation in this place that you’ve created
Fuck all of your rules and guidelines
You shouldn’t even be on the sidelines

Can’t you see that we're all hurting?
If you’re not teaching, we’re not learning
Excuse me, how much are you earning?

I tried to make you listen, but you won't, it's your way, right?
Killing kids all day and night, prescription pills and online fights
Shooting at the angels while claiming you're the good guy
All you want is cash and hype
Fuck our dreams and that’s not right
The principal
Oh, where's the principle?
Oh, where's the principle?
Oh, where's the principle?
Oh, where's the principle?

You don't know the pain that you are causing
Yeah, your actions hurt, so do your words
The more you try to fuck us over
We will be there yelling at your front door

I tried to make you listen but you want it your way, right?

The lyrics contain some mistakes.
You can verify by checking English subtitles of the film K-12 on YouTube (containing the lyrics to all the songs)

Wrong lyrics: First to follow the leader was being possessed by demons
Correct lyrics: Forced to follow the leader whose being possessed by demons

Wrong lyrics: Oh, it’s the principal
Correct lyrics: Oh, where's the principle?

Wrong lyrics: You’re fixated, I’m belated
Correct lyrics: You're fixated and elated

Corrected.

"the leader whose being possessed by demons" is not even gramatically correct and makes no sense whatsoever. "who has been" does make sense though.

Youtube subtitles are usually generated automatically by some whacky speech recognition neural network. They are full of typos and nonsense.

Yes, I had the same doubt, but I checked even on the physical booklet you receive when you buy her album and the lyrics are “whose being possessed by demons”. Maybe Melanie herself made a mistake, it should be “who’s being possessed” as you said. Whose is a pronoun that doesn’t make sense in this sentence and, on the other hand, there’s that “being” that should be preceded by an “has”. Who’s and whose sound very similiar so maybe no one of the producers noticed that mistake even on the booklet...

I changed "whose" to "who's". Probably clearer to everyone that way.

Yes, it makes more sense. Thank you Regular smile

I guess it's better to correct the obvious typo, since the site is about making sense of what people sing Regular smile

Why wouldn't the song be named "The Principle?" if that's the correct lyric?

psykepsyke    Sat, 14/09/2019 - 09:23

The song is about a cruel principal who manipulates all the students for money and has, therefore, no principles. It’s a pun Regular smile these lyrics are surely correct because I took them from the physical booklet you receive when buy her album. Regular smile
