Milica jedna u majke

Milica, jedna u majke
Što orano rani na vodu (x2)

Pripev (x2):
Džar mi džan, na vigan, bez ašikovanja
Milica, jedna u majke

Što nosi kratku rašicu
Zagazila vodu Ribnicu (x2)

Pripev (x2)

Podigla je kratku rašicu
Pregazila vodu Ribnicu (x2)

Pripev (x2)

Milica, Mother's Only Daughter

Milica, mother's only daughter,
Who goes early to fetch the water,

From Camli can up to Viganj,
Without courting
Milica, mother's only daughter
Wearing a short skirt
She waded the waters of Ribnica

From Camli can up to Viganj,
Without courting
Milica, mother's only daughter

She hiked her short skirt,
And waded Ribnica ashore

From Camli can up to Viganj,
Without courting
Milica, mother's only daughter

Thanks to the Internet, many people, not only out of Montenegro, but in the very city of Podgorica where it originates from, who have loved this song, can now understand the words

Some words of Turkish origin in the song:

- Can - "Soul" etc., name of the street that apparently still exists in the Podgorica's neighbourhood Drač (see https://kolektiv.me/29729/Da-li-znate-sta-znace-rijeci-Dzamli-Dzan-na-Vi...)

- Camli - vitreous, i.e. shining as if made of glass. The pronunciation of Çamli çan in the local dialect of the song is "jarmeejan" instead of "jamli jan".

- ašikovanje - from Turkish aşık "courting"

- raša, dim. raš-ica - a dated Montenegrin word for a coarse, hand-made fabric and, by extension, a skirt;
- Viganj is reportedly also the name of the street crossing the street Can
