Nunca quedas mal con nadie (English translation)

English translationEnglish
A A

You never make a bad impression

Tell me!
Do you think you protest?
Tell me!
You're assuring me you protest
Tell me!
Do you think you're some kind of rebel?
Hey!
You complain about pollution
You talk
about automatization
Tell me!
Do you think you're some kind of modern troubadour?
You defend humanity
you cry because the world is so bad
You critique society
you say everything should change
In the stage, you folklorize your voice
"down with the city and it's contamination"
with your cute melodies and romantic sympathy
you never make a bad impression on anyone

Hey!
You tell me you protest
But...!
Your position doesn't bother anyone
Tell me!
Is your goal to attack something, or just win applause?
You complain about the bombs
and say they will be the end of the world
But you never give any names,
you're afraid to make a bad impression
On the peñas*, faculties, and television
right among the artesas* and conscious snob
you thing you're revolutionary and controversial
But you never make a bad impression

You never make a bad impression on anyone (x4)

I'm tired of your intelectual position
You're a bad copy of some hippie gringo
your position, listen, you stupid beardy
sold itself to the applause of the cheesy conscious people
You contradict all of your famous protest
with your complicated and beautiful melodies
You are an artist, not a fighter
You pretend to fight...
but you're just a nice piece of shit!

You never make a bad impression on anyone (x4)

Eat your fear to the neutron bomb
Leave your poetry and reasons to yourself
Cut it off with the "concrete jungle" deal
I can't stand your artistic weeping
Your little artisanal poncho and bag
Your cheesy culture makes me sick
I don't give a damn about your protest
because you never make a bad impression

You never make a bad impression on anyone (x8)

Thanks!

Author's comments:

*Peña: In Chile, a kind of social event, very common in universities, where there are artistic and cultural acts, usually about local folklore.
*Artesa: Common term used in Chile, coming from the word "Artesano" (Artisan). It alludes to a stereotypical figure in Chile that is more or less akin to a hippie. The author of this song is using the term in a derogatory way.
