"pass away" in lyrics
There are so many things that come to pass, everything will pass away too
Happy and sad, it's just time
One lasting, true love
With the love that it has, all are tough!
I’m alone now at the table which my fingers set to sound
Like a tambourine that cries beneath the drops of falling rain
Like the songs which pass away upon having been forgot
And the early Autumn leaves, encountering skies of lesser blue
You know, I actually did hear
The news 1
- 1. This song plays on the word "いって (itte)" which is a conjugated form of a number of verbs, the most important here being "言う (iu)", to say, and "逝く (iku)", to pass away. In the third line, it's not yet obvious that the verb being used is the latter, and so on a first listen (or read), most people will assume it's actual the former. Then, in line 17, it becomes clear that the verb is in fact "逝く (iku)", to pass away. This playing with the listener's expectations is very hard to translate, and so I did my best to keep line 3 as vague as possible.
It's true, It's strange, to see how we change, even without think to it...
Just like the stars, which pass away secretly
The Eternal Story, touches with its wing
Don't blame the kiss has not accumulated into cocoon.
It embraces with hibernation and does not pass away to be immortal.
Don't blame this relationship has not repeated rehearsing.
In tribute to all the wrecked opportunities
To our stories dead before they even began
To the hours we let pass away, friends we never called back
To the jobs I dropped, the doors I slammed
