ペパーミントの朝 (PEPAAMINTO no Asa) (English translation)

Peppermint Mornings

The morning of the day I meet you
that'll be my peppermint morning
The wind's playing tricks on me again
as I go to open the window

Bright rooms and fresh salad
Bossa Nova on the FEN,1
A quick pedicure and a change of clothes
then I'll be waiting by the telephone

Don't take my morning sun,
morning breeze

It was never so tender
Until the day you started loving me
You're my morning sun
morning breeze
Just let me go on, singing and singing
like nobody ever before

The morning after I meet you
that'll be my peppermint morning
Lying in bed to start the day
letting Minnie Riperton take me away

This chair is like a time machine
chasing my dreams around in circles
But just turn it back again
and I'm right there in your arms

I love my morning sun,
morning breeze

It was never so tender
Until the day you started loving me
You're my morning sun
morning breeze
Just let me go on, singing and singing
like nobody ever before

Author's comments:

I had fun with this one. I took most of the normal liberties I take with Nakahara so it's not an exact translation but keeps the essential pace and style

Oh I'm loving this! I was hesitating to translate it before because I didn't know what FEN is, haha. Thank you for the translation!

Thank you for the comment! It's nice to hear words of encouragement from other fans of Nakahara's work. I admit I was also pretty stumped at first as to what the acronym could mean, took quite a bit of searching before I finally found the one that made sense lol
