Pra que inventaram o amor? → English translation
Why was love created?
1. | Pra Você |
2. | Não Precisa |
3. | Eu sem Você |
Thank you for the useful comments :)
I always had this doubt... when can I know if I can't invert the position of the words to mean 'of'? For example:
I thought if I inverted: seed of love -> love seed, it would mean the same as 'seed OF love', and according to your suggestion it doesn't.
So... are there cases in which I can only either write 'of' or '´s'? Thanks!
I don't know if there's any rules to determine whether you can invert or not
I think it's just that some phrases are more commonly used without 'of/'s'
Eg. 'summer fruits' is more used than 'fruits of summer'
I suggested 'seed of love' just because 'love seed' seemed odd to me... also I think there's a subtle difference in meaning: ' love seed' takes for granted the properties of the seed whereas 'seed of love' draws attention to the properties of the seed and also sounds more literary...
I hope I didn't confuse you even more! :)
Don't worry :D Indeed, there are some things that were not meant to be understood, but learnt, in Portuguese we have some cases which we can't explain as well, so... we learnt to use those expressions according to our everyday and the traditional usage, English seems the same!
Thank you for your explanation :)
Nice translation :)
Some suggestions:
Verse 2, line 1: you could use 'embrace' instead of 'hug' for more elegance
Verse 2, line 2: '...make yours happier'
Verse 3, line 3: 'builT with stones/of stone'
Verse 3, line 4: I don't think you need the 'the' ;)
Verse 8, line 3: 'the seed of love/love's seed'
