Red River Valley

From this valley they say you are going
We will miss your bright eyes and sweet smile
For they say you are taking the sunshine
That has brightened our pathway a while
Come and sit by my side if you love me
Do not hasten to bid me adieu
But remember the Red River Valley
And the cowboy who loved you so true
Won't you think of the valley you're leaving
Oh how lonely, how sad it will be?
Oh think of the fond heart you're breaking
And the grief you are causing to me
As you go to your home by the ocean
May you never forget those sweet hours
That we spent in the Red River Valley
And the love we exchanged mid the flowers

The source lyrics have been updated. Please review your translation.

Sorry my fellow translators, there had been a mess-up. Sometime in 2018 the lyrics that had been submitted by me in 2015 were changed to the version sung by Michael Martin Murphey, which were different than the lyrics I had submitted before, without notifying the translators. I noticed it, when I went back to my Spanish translation of the song and there were verses totally different from the source lyrics. I now changed it back and made an entry for Michael Martin Murphey's version here:

I also made an entry for the complete original version user Steve Repa provided the lyrics for:

I can't remember were I found the lyrics of this particular version, I copied it from somewhere on the internet. Most versions I found doing a quick search have more verses, closer to the original version, but featuring the cowboy as the narrator instead the girl...
