Finrod's Song
- Felagund:
Finrod was an Elven king of the Noldor, eldest son of Finarfin and older brother to Angrod, Aegnor and Galadriel. Finrod was like his father in his fair face and golden hair, and also in his noble and generous heart. In Beleriand, Finrod became the ruler of Nargothrond, taking the after-name of Felagund. He was a wise, just and powerful Elf, and a great traveller.
- Elvenesse:
Elvenesse was a term whose meaning is not clearly defined, but which seems to refer to all the lands of the Elves, both west and east of the Great Sea. (Tolkien Gateway)
- Nargothrond:
Nargothrond was the stronghold built by Finrod Felagund which delved into the banks of the river Narog in Beleriand.
- Elvenland:
Eldamar was the land of the Elves in Aman.
- Valinor:
Valinor or Valinórë was the realm of the Valar in central Aman.
- Noldor:
The Noldor or Ñoldor were those of the second clan of the Elves who came to Aman. They were highly skilled in crafts and gained much knowledge, which they passed on to Men after their Exile. Their King was originally Finwë, but he was slain by Morgoth, leading his son Fëanor to avenge him and the theft of his jewels by making war upon Morgoth in Middle-earth. The war of the Noldor against Morgoth comprises many of the tales of the First Age. (Tolkien Gateway)
- Foamriders:
Mermaids, or water spirits, were creatures only mentioned fleetingly in the earliest versions of the tales of Arda and linguistic writings of the Eldar. Other names for these creatures were foam-maidens, foam-fays, foam-riders and nymphs. (Tolkien Gateway)
- Angband:
Angband was a mighty fortified citadel originally constructed by Melkor in the earliest days of the world as an outlying fortress to his northern stronghold of Utumno. Utumno was destroyed by the Valar and Melkor imprisoned in Valinor for three ages, but on his return to Middle-earth, he took Angband as the seat of his power and raised the towers of Thangorodrim above its gates. (Tolkien Gateway)
- Finrod:
Finrod was an Elven king of the Noldor, eldest son of Finarfin and older brother to Angrod, Aegnor and Galadriel. Finrod was like his father in his fair face and golden hair, and also in his noble and generous heart. In Beleriand, Finrod became the ruler of Nargothrond, taking the after-name of Felagund.
