Schlaflied (English translation)

English translationEnglish
A A

Lullaby

Everything is silent,
The wind has gone to sleep,
And silence reigns everywhere.
No monster that stirs,
And everyone sleeps peacefully.
Throw your worries away

The yellow moon returns home
And looks down on you;
Close your eyes
Listen to my imagination
Everything I tell you
Are stories of happiness
Close your eyes
Listen to my imagination
Move forward into your dreams
And do not look back

Everything is silent
The wild beasts are asleep
The dreams of all the world
will be soulful tonight
Your sleep will be sinless
and I whisper to you: "I will be still here tomorrow"

The yellow moon returns home
And look down on you;
Close your eyes
Listen to my imagination
Everything I tell you
Are stories of happiness
Close your eyes
Listen to my imagination
Move forward into your dreams
And do not look back
(don't look back)

Please note the German lyrics have been corrected, especially:
"Die Träume der ganzen Welt
Sind selig heute Nacht"

Your own source, musixmatch, says you're incorrect: https://www.musixmatch.com/lyrics/Eisblume/Schlaflied
"Seelisch" was the word used at every source until now, including the website of Eisblume. but you're correct about it being "selig", it was which I heard myself as well, and translated from.
So, it would be good to remove musixmatch as source, as it is not the source, the source is you yourself, you deserve the credit, not musixmatch. ;-)

Musixmatch is added automatically, even if the lyrics were copied from a different source. We cannot remove it. You should trust what the native speakers say. When in doubt listen to the song.

Hence the "You're correct" I said Aldefina. ;-)

Kind of annoying that they're added as source every time though, especially as their lyrics are far too often incorrect...
An easy example being: https://www.musixmatch.com/lyrics/Elya-Chavez/Kukla
The lyrics could literally be transcribed of the music video...
Before you ask, no, fixing them yourself won't help, it has been done several times, but musixmatch just changes them back to the wrong lyrics. Kind of worrisome that credits are forcefully given to a website with far too often incorrect lyrics...

Musixmatch shouldn't be treated as a source of lyrics, because it works similar way as LT - people submit them. These are not official lyrics as one expects. I always listen to the song before translating it and then I correct the mistakes. I would recommend you to follow my example. When you cannot correct them yourself, because the lyrics were submitted by someone else, just contact a moderator or an editor who understands the given language.
