Show someone the ropes (English) — To teach someone the ways of things in a new situation for them. A journeyman (experienced) teaches a novice (inexperienced) how perform tasks or mannerisms.
This comes from mariner sailing days when a vessel was a web of ropes of different sizes, uses, and names.
