Corrandes are a folk genre that originates in the former Duchy of Gothia (part of the Marca Hispanica, 801-897), which roughly covered a third of France's Mediterranean coast and half of the current Catalan territory: more or less, the area between Nimes and Barcelona). They are extremely popular in Central and Northern Catalonia, from where they originate, as well as Northern and Western Valencia
