Stretch the truth

Stretch the truth (English) — To say something that is not completely honest in order to make someone or something seem better than they, or it really is.
You might say that you went out last night. But you failed to mention with whom.
Salesmen are notorious for it. A used car may be a 'real deal'. The salesman failed to reveal that is was in a crash, or a flood.

"Stretch the truth" in lyrics

You found me passed out in the yard again

You cried, I tried
To stretch the truth, but didn't lie
It's not so bad when you think about it

Bon Jovi - Misunderstood

Mind, you mind me.
How things can change is a good week?
Call me ruthless,
(But…) you stretch the truth, oh yes.

I tell you,

Sia - Insidiously

[Verse 1: 2 Chainz]
Another party, 'nother Ferrari
I stretch the truth like pilates
See all of my hoes exotic
None of your hoes invited

Cashmere Cat - Throw Myself a Party

Can we pretend that it never even happened?
I will sing myself to sleep cause you've made a liar out of me

I watch my shadow stretch from my feet like the way we stretch the truth
I wish i could play the victim for you
I just needed room to breathe

Search the City - In This Scene You're Just an Extra
