Bedban (Boris Ryzhy)

An enamel-coated bedpan
A window, a nightstand, a bed
Living is hard and uncomfortable
At least it's comfortable to die
An enamel-coated bedpan
A window, a nightstand, a bed
Living is hard and uncomfortable
At least it's comfortable to die

And quietly, dripping from the faucet,
Life gets messed up, like damn-
She comes as from out of the fog
And sees a nightstand, a bed

And I try to get up
I wanna look her in the eyes
Look her in the eyes and sob
And never die, never die
Never die, never die, never die

An enamel-coated bedpan
A window, a nightstand, a bed
Living is hard and uncomfortable
At least it's comfortable to die
An enamel-coated bedpan
A window, a nightstand, a bed
Living is hard and uncomfortable
At least it's comfortable to die

361 thanks for a wrong translation and only 15 for the one that got the meaning right. Internet glory is bauble for dummies.
Thank you anyway :)

silencedsilenced    Thu, 15/10/2020 - 08:55

It's not perfect, but at least you can see it's about a girl :)

Well, when I read the translation that got hundreds of thanks (and a few others) I simply don't know what the song is about. This one is a clear improvement, in my opinion.

PinchusPinchus    Thu, 15/10/2020 - 09:16

The number of translations is getting ridiculous, but that would be worth yet another try :)

Another of these things only Russians can understand, I suppose. Or at least not me, at any rate. Anyway, this translation is what makes the most sense to me. I'll die unavare of its true meaning.

Pierre, who are you kidding? Life is a bitch, and then you die... goddamn it, if you had to learn судно isn’t a ship in the process...

silencedsilenced    Thu, 15/10/2020 - 09:41

For me, this is about one real girl he summons in his mind. Not a personification of this bitch of a life, quite the opposite. A girl who would make this hellish life a paradise. But of course that will never happen, so he goes back to his usual gloomy thoughts.
It's just something that would make sense to me, I have no idea what the Russian actually says.

He treated his life like a whore and now he is in the hospital and dying.

silencedsilenced    Thu, 15/10/2020 - 09:57

Well thanks, that makes sense, but I couldn't see that in any of the translations.
At least this one tried to make sense, even though it failed.

silencedsilenced    Thu, 15/10/2020 - 09:59

but popular, for some reason :D

PinchusPinchus    Thu, 15/10/2020 - 12:55
