Your party

Versions: #1#2#3#4#5#6
[Verse 1]
It's time, time to stop dancing
Dance, don't worry — you'll dance
Swing on, but you'll get thrown out
Get smashed, but you'll get smashed in

[Chorus]
You'd like to have your party
Your mother would also like to get on your case
The judge would like to get on your case
Everyone else will get on your case

[Verse 2]
You go out too much, at least, that's what they say
They talk to much, that's why your ears are ringing
Whose fault is it? It's somebody else's fault, eh?
It's the others; you only have one care

[Chorus x2]

Author's comments:

I feel like the other translations are either too literal or too dependent on the mosaert translations (which, while accurate to the themes of the songs, are a bit figurative). I hope this one sits at a good middle ground.

The first two lines of the chorus are kind of hard to translate insofar as they depend on a wordplay that doesn't exist in English (at least, not in any dialect I've encountered). Thus, it doesn't really make sense to say "your mother also...", because "you" made no pretence of "[getting] on your case". I considered going with the mosaert-approved "meanwhile" variant, but that was starting to get a bit liberal for my tastes. I was stuck between a rock and a hard place, then. In the end, I went with my heart (or my OCD. One of those two things).
