I miss you

When you don’t know where to go anymore,
Just go to the place that scares you the most.
The things you can’t change,
Are those that end up changing you.
I promised I’d do everything for you
But I can’t make you happy.
If you’re gonna be someone without me,
Please don’t ever be what they made you be.
And one day goes by and I don’t see you
It’s two already and I lose you.
If you turn the page, I won’t read you.

I miss you,
Even though I was the one who kicked you out (1)
I don’t know what I want sometimes.
How can I love you?
You find excuses,
I always waited for you.
The worst part is that you’re fire,
And burning scares me.

Love yourself until you forget why weren’t doing it before
Forget everything, but happiness
Some nonsense that tells you “live” and to call me “my love”* (2)
You say “come”, but you won’t tell me where to go
You lost your time, the way you see it
But good things won’t come that easy

And now that there is no time left,
I feel like telling you
That you have always loved me they way I don’t
Leaving doesn’t hurt,
Realising too late that I could have stayed when she no longer could, does
If love can conquer anything
My problem was that I believed I could actually conquer love
And how can I know you
If I always lived with myself
And the one that knows me the worst is myself?

I miss you,
Even though I was the one who kicked you out (1)
I don’t know what I want sometimes.
How can I love you?
You find excuses,
I always waited for you.
The worst part is that you’re fire,
And burning scares me.

The worst part is thinking for the first time,
That something can be the last time
And the sheer irony of seeing me run.
Just running away safe from my steps.
It’s been a lifetime loving you, giving, waiting for you
Not caring I might hurt
It’s being difficult to be able to realise
That I’m not that important for you

I miss you,
Even though I was the one who kicked you out (1)
I don’t know what I want sometims.
How can I love you?
You find excuses,
I always waited for you.
The worst part is that you’re fire,
And burning scares me.

Author's comments:

(1) It’s a pun that can’t be translated as it plays with the verb “echar” which, in this case, means “to miss” and to “kick out” respectively.
(2) In Spanish “mi vida” (my love) literally translates for “my life”.
