Hebrew

Tmimuti |

My Naïveté

Versions: #1#2
Returning to an empty house
From a concert up in the north
My body trembeling
And in my ears still the sounds of the crowd

The pictures of my childhood are smiling
From a wall that is not white anymore
The silence now
Reminds me of my old self

Then, maybe
A day will come and you'll return to me
If there's a little chance just say when
And I'll come to you

Taking off the cool clothes
At night I hide
And imagining
That I'm still only someone else

With everyone around me
I still feel so alone
The other man
Is standing there instead of me

Then, maybe
A day will come and you'll return to me
If there's a little chance just say when
And I'll come to you

Come to me
And I'll hug you with both arms
When I'll wake up I'll surely find
That you're not with me
My naïveté

Author's comments:

There is a bit of a problem for me with "בגדי פאר" because what it means is "grandiose/luxurious clothes," but those words sound too long here for me, or don't seem to fit in, so I just wrote "cool," you know, 'concert' clothes. Tell me what you think about this.

It sounds good to me because I can relate to it in Turkish, my native language. In English I'm not sure.Maybe 'fancy clothes'? I think that sounds even better but in general I really liked your translation, thank you! Regular smile

Yeah, it even rhymes a little at the very end, that's so rare when it just turns out like that. I imagine what a nightmare it would be if I tried to make the translation rhyme like the original.

The lines of the Hebrew and translation don't line up. Like Boei elai, lines up with then maybe. They're all out of wack. I'll try it in a different browser just in case, but I've never seen it before (a problem).
