Вила са Кошара

Крвав месец врх Кошара,
Гробнице га српске скриле,
Језним ехом мрак дамара
И јецајем горске виле.
 
Смртним ропцем шума збори:
Вратите се браћо мила,
Зар вам мушки рс не кори
посестрима ваша вила?
 
Одсекли јој пси увојке,
Сустигла је мрска хајка,
Ал` се не да зор девојка,
Нагоркиња наша мајка.
 
Но крстаче ове стражи
И аманет витезова,
Јуначке им ране блажи
Старом песмом са Косова.
 
Тихо тужи и запева,
Неневикла на окове,
К`о Косовка, негда, дева,
Мртву браћу песмом зове.
 
Вратите се соколови,
Вратите се мени амо,
Траже од нас прадедови,
Да душмане истерамо.
 
Дижите се див јунаци,
Почивати још не смете,
Треба јарам да се збаци
И да опет погинете.
 
Нема Космет ко да брани,
трулије су њине кости,
дижите се опевани,
а њима нек` Бог опрости.
 
Они мртви светом ходе,
А нису ни били живи,
`ајде браћо, устај роде,
Јуриш соколови сиви!

Translation

Fairy from Košare

A Blood Moon above Košare,
Serbian tombs have concealed it,
The darkness roars with chilling echo,
and the cries of mountain fairy.
 
The forest speaks with a death rattle:
"Come back, my dear brothers,
isn't your male pride reprimanded
by a fairy, your blood sister?"
 
The hounds have cut off her curls,
the heinous chase has reached her,
but the prideful maiden withstands,
Our mother of the mountain.
 
She guards these crosses,
and the vow given by knights,
Tending to their heroic wounds
with an old song from Kosovo.
 
With a quiet song and lament,
unused to the shackles,
Like "Maiden of Kosovo" afore,
she's calling out to fallen brothers.
 
"Come back, hawks,
come back here to me,
the forefathers are requesting from us,
to drive out our enemies!"
 
"Arise, giants, heroes,
You may not rest yet,
the chains must be cast off,
so you can fall again."
 
There's no one to defend Kosmet,
their bones have rotten,
Arise, the sung ones,
and may God forgive them.
 
They thread dead on this world,
and they were never alive,
come, brothers, arise kinsmen,
Charge grey hawks!
