我的祖国 (wǒ de zǔ guó) (English translation)
Magnificent river is broad and wide.
Wind carries paddy scent on each side.
Riverbank is where my home sits.
I always hear sculler’s ballad bits.
Routinely I see white sails of rowers.
My homeland has strength and might.
I’ve been brought up at this site.
On this land warm and bright,
everywhere is ravishing sight.
Fair maidens are as pretty as flowers.
Young lads are packed with powers.
To find new land that’s unexplored,
we awake mounts long have snored;
rivers are changed in where they poured.
This is the land where heroes are sworn.
This place is where I was born.
In this land where ancients breathed,
ubiquitous youth vitality is perceived.
Mountains, rivers and land are all grand.
Roads everywhere widen and expand.
Friends are treated to fine wine at hand.
If what comes is wolf bad and mean,
shotgun is ready to blast it clean.
