Never has the sun risen

By God, never has the sun risen nor set
Without your love entwining my breath
And never have I confided in a group
Without you being my topic among my confidants
And never have I mentioned your name, in sorrow or in joy
Without you in my heart and within my obsessions
And never was water about to quench my thirst
Without a glimpse of your shadow in my glass
And I would come to you if I could
Scurrying face-down, or walking on my head

By God, never has the sun risen nor set
Without your love entwining my breath
And never have I confided in a group
Without you being my topic among my confidants
And should you gleefully sing for me, neighborhood minstrel
Sing to me, and woe to your callous heart
Why do people ignorantly twist my words?
My faith is mine, and their faith is theirs
