The laborers uncompensated

Disease slays guilt and innocence

The frigid capital is Magadan
Feeling as though burned alive
Frostbite's benevolent numbing
No escape from constant torment
No respite for the ill-gotten judged
Cogs on the wheel whirring round
Untended, worn, wasted machines
Rations large are quick killers
Earning them, breath's exhaustion
Small ones bring contentment
If only to remain alive a little bit
Hardened criminals like animals
Easy to anger in that discordance
A death sentence has no extreme
Foe inexpensive Soviet labor fears
Firing squads are ultimate enders
A bullet is cheap disposition
Men turn away from the truth
Living free, unpunished criminals
All were told of world suffering
Yet soldiers sent abroad awoke
Returning with new ideals instilled
Speaking out against the norms
The irony of tasting sweet liberty
To be rewarded with imprisonment
Escape was only through a bullet
Wakened minds cannot be confined
Surviving wars and the struggles
Finding that there is no justice
Tyranny flourishes beneath arms
By those of selfish indifference
The cold-cast skies of frigid grey
Give no shade languishing below
