Russia is waging a disgraceful war on Ukraine.     Stand With Ukraine!

(Zài, yě bù jiàn) (English translation)

  • Artist: Stefanie Sun (孫燕姿, 孙燕姿, Sng Ee Tze)
(Zài, yě bù jiàn)

Here, but not seeing each other gain

All the mistakes have been made
If we can do it all over again
Will we be better practiced for the pain
The ones that should be here are no longer here
If one leaves without saying goodbye
Will regrets linger
All we see is the back; why bother turn around
Familiar tears and strange faces

How many times can you say endless goodbye
Can we pretend that we can't see all that is dusty
I dare not say goodbye, and I don't want to be face to face
I write down my will just to grieve the past

I don't care if you are here or not
I love or not
As long as I don't think, I won't feel sour or sweet
Familiar people, far way at the other end of the world
Unfamiliar feelings are always right in front of me

After seeing how many times, can I put end up to the longing
After seeing how many times, can I stop the tears
How many more years are needed to break away from the past
In fact, goodbye means "here, but not seeing each other"
No need to find out that we are actually lovable and pitiful

Thanks!

Author's comments:

In the second last verse, "原来再见就是在也不见", there's a word play there. The "再" in "再见" and the "在" in "在也不见" are both pronounced the same as in "zai 4". The first one means "again", and so "再见" means "see each other again". "在" means "in" or "at", in the context of this song, it means something like "present" or "here", and "在也不见" basically means "we are both here, but we're not seeing each other again".
