Gjestar, I agree It's verb. At first, my choice for translation was: "is guesting".
English guest is also verb, in meaning to appear as a guest. "is guesting" appearing as a guest.
I'll put "is visiting" as you suggested
Regarding "old wiseman" I also considered as translation for "gamal tul". I decided that it's better to use "old speaker", in this case, as it emphasis that song is about Silence speech e.g. Silence is speaking. Change is coming trough silence.

Well, I don't speak Norwegian so I don't know what would be the correct translation...
Maybe:
The raven flies...
and:
In the forest, visiting the old speaker (wise man?)
Maybe it should be:
The raven flies in circles in the sky,
above the forest, where he visits the wise old man?
But I don't know, as I don't speak Norwegian...
