Mihran Tsarukyan - Mayrik (Մայրիկ) (traducción al Inglés)

Mother

Versiones: #1#2
In your eyes I am still a child
And with my hands I endlessly beg you, It's like I'm dreaming
I want to sleep in your lap again
Your willpower for love is like an endless sky
And endless kindness flows from your heart like an ocean
There's an ocean in your heart
Father my God

I love you my kind, my only mother, health to you my mother
And I pray for you, for you to be next to me with your never dimming light
Mother of mine, the light of my home, my light, my guardian
So smile at me with your kind eyes
Give me the dreams of my younger days, mother of mine

You get afraid for me
Like a leaf your heart shivers and throbs
A relentless longing is in your soul
You are the home and name of my light
Love is an endless universe, for you it is said
Your soul is love itself
Father my God

I love you my kind, my only mother, health to you my mother
And I pray for you, for you to be next to me with your never dimming light
Mother of mine, the light of my home, my light, my guardian
So smile at me with your kind eyes
Give me the dreams of my younger days, mother of mine

I love you my kind, my only mother, health to you my mother
And I pray for you, for you to be next to me with your never dimming light
Mother of mine, the light of my home, my light, my guardian
So smile at me with your kind eyes
Give me the dreams of my younger days, mother of mine

I am sorry, but I totally don’t understand this:

And with my hands I endlessly beg you, you'd think it's a dream
In your lap I want to celebrate again

TheProteanGirl    Dom, 27/05/2018 - 06:40

That's what he's saying verbatim.

It's up for interpretation for the first sentence but I think what he means is he is reflecting on his youth were he would ask things of his mother almost like a dream to him now he's older. And in your lap I want to celebrate again he's referring to his birthday as a child where he would sit to celebrate. The theme of youth is mentioned in this song as you can see so that's my best guess. But word wise that is exactly what he's saying.

Well, for verbatim we have GT, translation should be something that people would understand

I still don’t understand what he was doing IN her laps... probably just my Russian

Aren't you being a bit harsh here, Maria? You know very well GT produces gibberish more often than not.
This clearly isn't anything like gibberish, only a way of saying that sounds odd in English and might use a bit of adaptation.

Igeethecat    Dom, 27/05/2018 - 07:27

Oh, Pedro, I am not being harsh. Just seeking for the truth, the song is about mother, so it has to be beautiful
And I am not getting it from the translation Sad smile
I will just shut up and go to sleep right now:)

I would also prefer something a bit easier to read, but still, there is a very wide margin between a slightly verbatim translation and a GT output.

Modified it a bit more but look theres just no way of making this more smooth. I'm Armenian, I understand the lyrics I've translated most Armenian songs on this website. And I'm telling you guys theres no way to rephrase what he's saying that is literally what he's saying and what he means to say if you get what i mean. Check my other translations youll see i like being poetic and making them nice but if i'm limited what can i do.

I'm quite ok with that. I'd rather have a verbatim translation than no translation at all (or a bunch of GT nonsense).
This is already quite helpful for people like me who have absolutely no clue about the original language.

Dear Adelaida! I take you at your word. I'll try to translate it using GT just for the fun of it.
